Lily Cole calls on UK banks to take climate crisis more seriously - The Guardian
The Brief
Triodos Bank wanted to talk about ethical banking and the climate crisis. As it stands, 75% of consumers have no idea where the money in their bank accounts goes. According to lobbying organisation BankTrack, top UK banks have poured nearly £150 billion into financing fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement was adopted in 2016, including £45bn for the expansion of fossil fuels, £13bn of which went into fracking alone. The mighty Greenhouse PR brokered a partnership with supermodel and activist Lily Cole, a Triodos customer and so I directed a film that could be used to generate conversation and as a PR sell in tool to news titles.
The Creative
Lily sat down over a cup of tea one sunny afternoon and we discussed banking, the climate crisis and modern solutions to very modern problems. She was a pro, and so I made sure to create a relaxed and chatty setting to keep things feeling informal and intimate.
The Results
The Campaign drove the biggest spike in traffic that Triodos had seen that year, over 40 tweets on @TriodosUK reached more than 175k, there was a spike in followers across all social channels, 14 total pieces of press coverage, with potential reach of 143m and 2.5k likes on Lily Cole’s Instagram post.
